It’s really difficult to do without deodorants, especially in summer, when it’s so hot. Although a recent study conducted by British scientists has shown, that every woman is probably going to make a choice soon: either using the deodorant or her own health, as the use of these cosmetic products may increase the risk of breast cancer.
A group of substances provoking the development of breast cancer is known under the name of parabens. Parabens are at the same time present in deodorants. These very substances are found in significant amounts in more than 20 tissue samples of tumors, which were studied by the researchers from University Riding, not far from London. Those parabens are present in tumors in such amounts and forms, which could get there only through skin.
Parabens are used in thousands of cosmetic products, drugs and foods as preservatives, but this study was the first to find their ability to accumulate in tissues. Parabens are similar to female sex hormones and because of this they can speed up the growth of tumors. Although further studies are needed to be absolutely sure, that applying such necessary cosmetic products as deodorants contribute to breast cancer.
