Sexy Kate Winslet for Lancome L’Absolu Nu Lipstick

Kate Winslet is gorgeously lascivious in the new Lancôme’s L’Absolu Sexy lipsticks ad video as she strikes seductive poses on the floor having only a scanty satin sheet for cover. The clip, shot by Mario Testino, shows the actress in a peroxide blond pixie cut, the marvelous soft locks she wore so proudly in British Vogue.

Winslet-graced Lancôme’s L’Absolu Nu lipsticks, made to be a shade lighter and more sparkly (achieved via the addition of mother of pearl fragments) in comparison with the brand’s L’Absolu Rouge collection, are available in 12 different colors at the price of $29 apiece.

The tendency to get actresses undressed for doing beauty products ads seems to be growing, what with Kirsten Dunst also all but disrobed by Italian luxury house Bulgari for their new fragrance Mon Jasmin Noir ad campaign.

Lip Care Tips in Winter

Chapped or dry lips are among the most common winter problems for women. The lip skin is very sensitive, so it immediately responds to temperature and humidity changes in the environment. Do not forget about winter lip care. And we will remind you of these simple tips.

Apply Olive Oil on the Lips

Despite its simplicity this balm is a real rescue, believe it or not. If you do not feel comfortable going out with oil on your lips, run the procedure before going to bed. The result will come. Just do not lick your lips after applying the oil!

Peel the Lip Skin

Find a peeling solution to your taste: it can be a purchased or a homemade scrub. For the best results, you can use a soft toothbrush. Just do not rub too hard! Proceed gently.

Moisturize Dry Skin

Like the skin, lips should be kept moisturized. The easiest way is a moisturizing lip balm. If you follow the latest trends in makeup and buy high-quality cosmetics, you probably know that the new lipstick and lip gloss formulae often contain moisturizing ingredients, for example, aloe vera.

Apply Vaseline

Though many treat this solution reprehensibly, the majority think vaseline is a universal and really effective lip remedy. In pharmacies they sell not only boxed, but also lipstick-shaped vaseline, because it is very convenient.

Don’t Lick Your Lips

Do not lick your lips. Everyone knows this rule. It is not so difficult to get rid of this habit – apply lip balm more often, even at home.

Use UV Protection

Buying a lip remedy, look for products with SPF-filters. They are more effective in protecting not only from sunrays, but also from free radicals that dry the skin and make it older.

Follow our winter lip care tips, and you will hardly encounter the problem of dry, chapped lips in winter.

Tom Pesho created six ultra popular shades, which were used as the core colors for this collection of juicy and neutral lipglosses. Estee Lauder promises light texture, long lasting and bright colors. Lets see if it is indeed so.

Get Rid of Cracked Lips

Lips are extremely sensitive body part because they have high congestion of nerve endings. It explains both why kissing is pleasure and why our lips may become painful in cold season. As there are no sebaceous glands in the lips, they are poorly moisturized and lose their allure. Your lips may become dry, cracked and sore; you may even experience unbeneficial changes in their color and shape.

You can also get a condition scientifically called cheilitis (inflammation of the lips). It develops mostly due to bad climate (strong winds, lowered air humidity, etc.) However, the inflammation may be triggered by stresses, allergies to a lipstick or toothpaste, UV-light and vitamin deficiencies.

Moisturize the Lips

Your lips should be moisturized around the clock. It is recommended to wear a hygiene lipstick under your cosmetics lipstick. It helps protect lips from drying and cracks.

Lip balm makes a perfect care for the lips in cold and windy seasons (it would be great if you had a balm formula with hyaluronic acid). The balm provides hygienic and healing effects. It does nourish, moisturize, protects from wind and frost, give the lips a natural gloss and elasticity, heal up cracks and sores.

Nourishing remedies also come in the form of creams. Creams are handy for the night care. They lock the moisture and provide care when you sleep.

No Lip Makeup in Winter

It is better to cut down on beauty lipstick use in cold season. Coloring agents in lipsticks fret at sores, exposing the lips to inflammation. If you can’t help using your favorite lipstick, make sure you apply hygiene one first. Lips gloss is certainly a bad idea as low temperatures make it thicker, which causes dry lips.

Avoid Long Lasting Lipstick

You should be careful about using long lasting lipsticks, too. Since they don’t have any moisturizers, these lipsticks dry your lips even more. In addition, their formulas contain components and coloring agents which clog the pores. It results in suffocated and dehydrated lip skin. Therefore, use long lasting lipsticks for special occasions only. Before bed, remove lipstick with herbal cleanser or alcohol-free tonic and apply something to nourish them.

Know Your Beauty Products

Study the labels of beauty products for lips you are going to use – in winter, you don’t want the formulas with glycerin, petrochemicals, alcohol and menthol. Stay away from skin creams with drying effect as it may affect your lips. The products which contain bensoperoxide, salicylic acid and retin A are particularly dangerous.

What Causes Cracked Lips?

If disastrous condition of your lips is caused by allergy, stop using allergy-causing products immediately. It may be a cinnamate in toothpaste and oxybenzone in sunscreens, including lip balms with UV-protection.

Home Remedies for Cracked Lips

Besides modern cosmetics, you can also resort to home remedies, though they are less effective. Anyway, use vegetable oil (olive oil is even better) for softer lips. Chapped and dry lips need honey, cucumber juice and sea buckthorn oil.

You want a comprehensive approach to win the battle for beautiful lips. It includes homemade lip masks, proper diet and even getting rid of bad habits.

Homemade Masks to Prevent Cracked Lips

Make lip masks few times a week. There is a wide range of ingredients you can use for your mask: cottage cheese and cream; grated apple and milk; honey; olive oil and beet juice.

Watch Your Diet

Applying masks and beauty products is not enough for healthy lips. You have to follow the right diet. Fatty and spicy food as well as alcohol is strictly excluded. Drink 1.5-2 liters of water every day. Enrich your diet with red meat, oatmeal, nuts, fresh vegetables and fruit. Above-mentioned diet is an excellent source of vitamins A, E, K and group B.

Don’t forget about diary products. Ferments and bacteria in salvia may trigger cracks in the corners of the mouth. Milk provides elements neutralizing these bacteria.

Licking Lips Habit

The nervous habit of licking your lips may also get bacteria to them. Besides, as the moisture evaporates, your lips will become drier. If you have this bad habit, apply bitter castor oil or aloe juice to the lips and your habit disappears as if by magic.

If you’ve provided the proper care for your lips, but the problems won’t go away, consult dermatologist. The reason may be autoimmune disorders or infectious diseases like cold sores, bacterial affections or candidosis.

Lipstick Dior Serum de Rouge

Serum de Rouge being a part of Dior fall collection deserves a separate credit to be mentioned. Dior is offering a new generation lipstick that decorates, cares and rejuvenates.
Serum de Rouge is a serum-based lipstick which – if compared to regular one – offers ten times more active components.

These include firstly microelements of hyaluronic acid that evens the skin surface and fills in wrinkles to outline your lips’ shape. Secondly there is mango oil and vitamin A derivatives. Much to the all Dior products, the other three components like ruscogenine, centella asiatica extract and Commiphora refresh the complexion, improves flexibility and fights wrinkles.

UV filter rating 20 which is a must for modern cosmetic products is also among the new implementations. Texture is said to feel non-sticky but rich and oily.

Fear Red Lipstickl

An Internet poll showed that one out of five men would prefer a woman wearing red lipstick. But women themselves have mixed feelings about this color: from boundless love to a strongly pronounced fear. Why does this happen? Are these fears well-grounded?

Here is what famous beauty gurus think about the mysterious effects of red color. Tibo Vabr, Creative Director at Clarins, says that back in fifties the red lipstick was the vogue and dominated makeup. Vabr points out that for today’s women it’s their personal attitude to the color that matters. If they think that red color just doesn’t suit them, nobody could try to persuade them otherwise.

The Guerlain’s Creative Director Olivier Echaudemaison thinks differently. He nods to the fact women wore red lipstick to draw attention as early as in ancient times. He encourages every girl and woman to experience the force of this magic color. He adds, though, you have to be on your guard, the situation will certainly get out of control.

Guerlain KissKiss Extreme Red Lipstick

Brothers Caten, designers at Dsquared2 company, made red lipstick the queen of makeup in their last show. “As always we had a long argument while choosing between red and wine shades but at last it dawned upon us. If you have a little black dress in your wardrobe, then why don’t you still have red lipstick in your cosmetics bag? Because in fact these are two musts”.

Why Do Women Avoid Red Lipstick?

When it comes to beauty women do not seek easy ways. But in the history of love-hate relation to red lipstick most women acknowledged their defeat and abandoned it. But as recently as late 19th century when German moralists argued that red lipstick was an attribute of streetwalkers, women bit their lips as hard as they could to make them look brighter.

Maybe those who reject red color do not dread the color itself but the effects it brings about.

There are three reasons for that.

  • First, an old stereotype: red lips deliver an aggressive message, red color is for femme fatale type. It depends, though. Did gentle Audrey Hepburn look like posing any threat to others? She did use red lipstick!
  • Second, girls often think that red color doesn’t match their complexion. This is an inexcusable misunderstanding. The red lipstick comes in some eighty shades and one of them will surely be right for you.
  • Third, the red lipstick has no tolerance for fuss. Leading Sisley’s makeup artist Christian Guglietta chimes in: “This is not the lipstick you can quickly rouge your lips with in a taxi. But you should believe that when at last you find your shade of red, you will stay before a mirror with greater pleasure”.

Six tips on how to use red lipstick correctly

How to Apply Red Lipstick

  1. The red lipstick makeup requires a flawless preparation. First apply a scrub and treat your lips with a soft tooth brush, then you’ll need to apply a lip balm whose excess you’ll remove after 10 minutes with a tissue.
  2. Always use a special brush to apply the red lipstick. It will result in a tidier application and the lipstick will stay longer on your lips.
  3. To prevent lipstick from creasing, apply some foundation to your lips or powder them slightly before applying lipstick.
  4. Use a lip liner that is as much as possible close to your natural lip color, not the lipstick color.
  5. Apply some translucent gloss over the lipstick, in this case the lipstick color will look cleaner and your teeth will look whiter. But always remember that glossy lipstick is better for blondes while matte lipstick is better for brunettes.
  6. If you are not determined enough to become a vamp woman you can decide on a compromise: dot some lipstick on your lips, smudge it with the tips of your fingers and ‘polish’ it over with lip gloss.

Protect Lip Skin in Summer

Most women tend to avoid color lip makeup in summer in order for their lips to get necessary vitamins from the sun and to look more natural on the beach. Instead, many of us use lip balm or lipgloss, but is it really healthy for your lips? Summer is just around the corner, and here are tips on whether to use lip makeup in summer and, if yes, what kind of it to use and how to protect your lips from the summer sun.

Lip Care Products and Lip Cancer

According to scientists at Baylor University, Dallas, it’s better not to use lipgloss on the beach. Lipgloss and lip balsam focus ultraviolet on the tender lip skin, which increases the risk of malignant cell regeneration. Lip cancer is one of the most malignant, it develops faster, than in other body areas.

Tips on Lip Care in Summer

In order to protect your lips on a sunny day, scientists recommend to do the following:

  • apply lip balm and lipgloss only over sun-protection cream,
  • if you are planning to spend more than 20 minutes on the beach, apply 30 SPF (Sun protection Factor) cream,
  • reapply lip balm and lipgloss throughout the day,
  • in case of any white spots, color change or desquamation of the lip skin for a long time, visit a doctor.

Lip Makeup Secrets of Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow, blond with a great figure, has a compelling charm of a smart woman. She is hardly a poster child for beauty, however. The actress has a beautiful smile, but her lips are thin. Gwyneth used to wear bright-colored lipsticks that didn’t look right on her thin lips. Now she’s using lipstick or lip-gloss of light natural colors as the makeup artists advise thin lips owners to do. Here are basic makeup rules for those with thin lips.

Lipstick Color

Darker colors and matte texture make lips look thinner while lighter natural shades and gloss, on the other hand, make them visually fuller.

Lip Liner Color

The combination of the lip liner darker than your lipstick can visually reduce the lip volume nearly in half. Don’t use lip liner at all, or pick the liner of the same color with your lipstick, or even lighter.

Draw the line 1-2 mm from your natural lip line.

Thin Lips Makeup for Special Occasions

For special occasions, you can use cosmetics products for instant volume lips – lip plumpers. Translucent plumpers are applied over lipstick while colored plumpers can be worn alone or with regular lipsticks and lip glosses.

How to Create Pouty Lips

One of the proven techniques for creating a pouty lip effect is to apply a bright-colored lipstick and then dot a light lip gloss at the centre of upper and bottom lip.

Found in Leading Brands of Lipstick

Lipstick produced by many leading makeup manufacturers contain too much leads – these data were obtained by a large-scale makeup testing in the US and Canada. The study involved samples of such well-known brands as Dior, L’Oreal and Covergirl. Two-thirds of the examined samples contained twice as much lead, as it is permitted by the sanitary standards.

According to the scientists, even a double exceeding of the lead content standard is harmful to the body, as lead, in the first place, affects the function of the nervous system and the reproductive function. The scientists insist on the firm control of the lead content in makeup products. After I found this information I convulsively checked my lipsticks to know if I used any of the “leading” ones. No, God be thanked, my nervous system is out of danger and I will still have children.

Levres Fix’Intense Lipstick and Lipgloss by Yves Rocher

I have already told you about my new discovery – Velvet Mousse Eye Shadow by Yves Rocher. It is great, I enjoy it every day since I bought this eye shadow. I’m wearing it today and feel and look good. But I also enjoy the long lasting lipstick, which I bought at the same beauty store. It is called Levres Fix’Intense and is double-sided. This lipstick is also produced by Yves Rocher. It consists of lipstick of the color you choose and the transparent lipgloss, each one with its own brush.

Double-Sided Lipstick

So, why is it double-sided? The first side with the tone gives your lips the long lasting color. The tone I chose is Brun 02. The second one, with the lipgloss, makes your lips shine. If your lips are thin and you want them to appear thicker, this is exactly what you need. At the same time, the lipgloss prevents the lipstick from vanishing. I can compare it only to Chanel lipstick, which is so superstay, that it was still on my lips even after a long dinner with a lot of drinks. The only thing I didn’t like in that Chanel lipstick was the fact that it dried the lips. That’s why I don’t use it anymore. But I use this lipstick-gloss, because it stays rather long and doesn’t dry the lips.

How to Use Levres Fix’Intense Lipstick and Lipgloss

There are particular, but very simple rules of using this lipstick. First apply the lipstick, leave it to dry for 1 minute and then apply the gloss over it. If you want to remove it, use a cleansing oil or your usual makeup remover. Besides the fact that your lips sparkle and look thicker with this lipstick, it lasts long. I wouldn’t say, it stays the same for 10 hours, like the producer writes on the package, well, maybe it does, if you do nothing during this time – don’t speak, don’t eat and drink, don’t kiss. From my own experience it lasts about 3 hours, but active hours. If you apply the gloss from time to time, it stays longer than this time. I would recommend you this lipstick, because I enjoy it myself – it looks beautiful on my lips, even smells very good and draws others’ attention to my lips.

Nivea Cherry Kiss Lip Balm and Other Lipcare Products

What lip care producers do you prefer? Have you ever heard of Nivea (or Labello, which is the same)? They have a wide range of lipcare, look at the picture. I’ve recently tried Nivea Cherry Kiss Lip Balm, I’ve never seen it before. I was visiting my mom, who had bought it some time ago, and she gave it to me saying “You must try it, it smells fantastic”. I took the stick, opened and smelled it. It had a wonderful cherry fragrance! Then I applied it on my lips. Unlike usual lipcare sticks, the balm itself looked red, was semi-transparent on the lips and gave my lips a pink tint. I must say, it’s not the color I usually wear on my lips, but I wanted to try it anymore.

To Buy or not to Buy Nivea Cherry Kiss Lipstick

Nivea Cherry Kiss Lip BalmI like cherries, cherry ice-cream, cherry pies, cherry juice very much. This is why after having smelled it I decided to buy it, it was a must. After having chatted with my mom and other relatives for some time I suddenly understood, that I had no cherry balm on my lips anymore. I decided to apply it again. Then again. And then one more time, before I wanted to leave. When I came home, I felt my lips uncomfortably dry, it was even a little bit painful, but I didn’t want to blame Nivea Cherry Kiss Lip Balm for it. Today I talked with my mom and said I wanted to buy this lipstick, but she said no way. Reason – it dries the lips and stays really a short time on the lips. Well, I trust her and also remember my dry lips after having applied this cherry lip balm. I decided not to buy it.

Other Nivea Lipcare Product

Now I recall, that some years ago I also had an opportunity to try a Nivea lip care product. It was a lipgloss, which also smelled very good. It was transparent and was produced just to moisturize the lips, make them healthier and look better. I remember very well this experience. It does moisturize the lips and make them look nice for several minutes. But when some time passes after you have applied this lip gloss, it disappeares completely, as if you didn’t apply it at all! Moreover, instead of making my lips healthier, this gloss dried them much. And the more I applied this “long lasting moisturistion” (copied from nivea.com) gloss, the drier my lips became. It was an upsetting surprise. Maybe this is why I haven’t bought and used any lip care products of Nivea since then. But anyway it’s only for you to decide, if you want to buy and use it or not. I just wanted to share with you my own experience and opinion about Nivea lip care products. By the way, yours are also welcome!
